The Texas Department of Public Safety is still investigating a car accident involving two police officers last Sunday morning, January 27.

According to initial reports, the Carrollton police officers responded to the northbound lanes of Interstate 35, near Crosby Road at around 4:00 a.m. Based on a preliminary investigation, a vehicle driven by an intoxicated man rear-ended a police vehicle. The impact of the crash left the vehicle in total wreck. Fortunately, the officers did not sustain any injury.

The driver of the vehicle was injured from the impact. He was treated on scene and arrested on suspicion of DUI. His identification has not been disclosed as of this writing.

Local emergency crews were requested at the scene to help clear the site.

Our sincerest sympathies to the victim of this unfortunate accident. We pray for their full recovery as we hope that the Carrollton Police Department will do everything to bring those responsible to justice.

Drunk driving in Texas commonly result in a serious injury and sometimes, death. While accidents are fortuitous events that cannot be foreseen, they can be prevented if only drivers had simply put their complete attention on the road and taken their responsibility as drivers more seriously. This is why, despite conscious efforts by government to combat the increasing number of fatalities and injuries every year, crashes due to negligence is still on the rise.
While it can be difficult to remain calm in a situation like this, it is important to know that you can be entitled to compensation and claims following a collision. If you or your loved one has been injured in a car accident caused by a negligent party or a driver under the influence of alcohol, you may have a right to fair compensation for the trauma you experienced and the injuries you have suffered.
