Brownsville–Alejandro Garcia Struck and Killed on Laredo Road

A man who got struck by a vehicle last Friday on Laredo Road has succumbed to his injuries, Friday night, a local news source said.
At around 10:30 p.m., Brownsville Fire Department was alerted of a collision at the corner of Laredo and 17th streets. According to initial reports, a 29-year-old Corpus Christi man had been seen urinating in public. When people yelled him to stop, the pedestrian stopped and walked onto the road, only to get hit by a passing pickup truck.
The victim, later identified as 29-year-old Alejandro Garcia, died from his injuries sustained from the collision.
Following the crash, the driver, identified as 35-year-old Albert Martinez, fled the scene but later turned himself in. He was arrested for DWI and causing an accident involving death and remains in jail on bonds totaling $125,000.
