At least eight people, including five children, sustained various injuries after a vehicle accident on Highway 90, just nine miles east of Marathon, Sunday evening.
When Alpine EMS Medic 2 and Medic 3 arrived at the scene, they found a van laying on its side. Its occupants, three adults and five children were all waiting by the wreckage when they arrived at the scene. They were all rushed to Big Bend Regional Medical Center in Alpine for treatment of their injuries that were considered non-life threatening. Alpine Fire Rescue, Brewster County Sheriff’s Office, and Marathon VFD were also requested to assist on scene.
What caused the van to overturn is yet to be determined by Brewster County law enforcement officials. Any witness who has information about the crash should coordinate with the authorities.
The crash remains under investigation.
We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the friends and families of the injured victims. We pray for their full recovery as we hope that the Brewster County Police Department will do everything to bring those responsible to justice.
Injuries caused by vehicle collisions can vary from crash to crash. Some injuries may heal within a span of days while others could paralyze a victim’s body for a month. The most commonly known car accident injuries include neck and chest and head and back injuries. Broken and ligament damages are also quite common.
Sometimes, a car accident can cause serious injuries to multiple parties—and filing a claim can get complicated. To make sure your claim is successful, you need to gather supporting evidence and documents that can back up your claim. It could be a detailed account of the accident you are involved in or documents indicating the extent of injuries you sustained. These may include a video or photograph of the scene, police reports, and medical records, to name a few.
