Brazos County – Solo-Vehicle Accident on Highway 6

The Texas Department of Public Safety is conducting an investigation about a vehicle accident on Highway 6, early morning.
According to the initial investigation, the incident occurred just before 5:00 a.m. at OSR. A Mazda sport utility vehicle had been traveling along the northbound lane of Hwy 6 when it veered off the roadway and down an embankment. It continued on and crashed into a guardrail and overturned. Police said the driver of the vehicle fell asleep as he went off the bridge and struck a guardrail below on OSR. The driver, who was the sole occupant in the vehicle, sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision. He was rushed to CHI St. Joseph Regional Health Hospital in Bryan for medical treatment. His condition was not immediately released.
Authorities did not disclose the identity of the victim.
Police continue to investigate the accident.
