Bonham – Pedestrian Struck by Car on FM 273 Identified

An elderly died after getting struck by a vehicle on Farm to Market Road 273, early Monday morning.
Bonham local authorities identified the fatality as 71-year-old Michael Asby.
According to police reports, DPS troopers were called into an auto versus pedestrian at around 4:00 a.m. Ashby was attempting to cross the lanes of FM 273 when he was hit by a vehicle that was heading south. The impact of the crash killed Ashby at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
Authorities did not release further details about the driver of the vehicle. It was not determined if he waited for emergency crews’ arrival.
