Boerne – Deputy Officer Struck by a Motorist on Interstate 10

A deputy officer died after getting struck by a vehicle on Interstate 10 in West Boerne last July 2, according to a local news source.
Preliminary investigation shows that the incident took place on I-10 westbound near Tower Road near Boerne. A local official was performing a traffic stop near the 533 mile marker when he was struck by a passing car at around 8:00 a.m. The impact of the collision killed the deputy officer on scene. His partner was taken to the hospital, along with the driver who was stopped for the traffic violation. They were released after receiving medical treatment.
Neither the officer nor the driver has been identified at this time.
The crash is still under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
