Bicyclist fatally hit by driver while crossing SH-6 NB in west Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A man died Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle across State Highway 6 in west Houston’s Walnut Bend area, reports KHOU11.
The fatal incident occurred on the northbound lanes near the Briar Forest Drive intersection at about 9:00 p.m.
Houston Police Department said the cyclist was trying to cross the highway away from a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a northbound Audi sedan.
The driver stayed after the crash and alerted authorities.
First responders pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
An investigation remains ongoing, but HPD said they no not suspect the driver was impaired at the time of the crash.
