Bexar County – Gavin Walence Killed in DUI Crash on I-35

A 35-year-old man was pronounced deceased after getting involved in an accident with a drunk driver on Interstate, early Friday morning.
Just after 3:00 a.m., Bexar County police officers responded to 14600 block of I-35 after they received a call reporting a DUI collision. According to the report, a vehicle had been traveling along the highway when it crashed into a concrete barrier and ended up in the right-hand lane. A few moments later, a passing vehicle crashed into the wreckage, ejecting the driver in the process. He landed at the middle of the road where he was struck by a vehicle.
The driver, who was identified as Gavin Matthew Walence, 35, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He had no passenger at the time of the accident.
Police said the third vehicle was driven by 25-year-old Violeta Martinez, who was charged with intoxication manslaughter.
