Belton – Yuricel Penaloza, 29, Struck and Killed by a Car on Interstate 35

Belton law enforcement officials have identified the pedestrian who died in a fatal pedestrian crash on Interstate 35 last Sunday.
The fatality was identified as Yuricel Penaloza, 29. She was a resident of Temple.
According to initial reports, the incident happened just before 10:00 p.m. Penaloza was walking along I-35, near southbound mile marker 289 near the Tahuaya Road exit, when she was struck by a 2004 gold Honda Accord. The impact of the collision threw the victim about 75 feet down the road. She suffered from serious injuries and was pronounced deceased by emergency crews who responded to the scene.
No charges have been filed.
Southbound I-35 was closed for about four hours after the crash, according to Romer.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
