Belton – Bicycle Collision on Nolan Loop

A bicycle rider was sent to the hospital after a collision with a vehicle on Nolan Loop last Thursday.
According to the initial report, a bicycle was seen traveling along Nolan Loop in Benton when it was struck by a passing vehicle. The impact of the crash left the bicyclist with head injuries. He was immediately taken to the hospital where he received treatment of his injuries that were considered non-life-threatening. He was only identified by authorities as a 59-year-old male bicyclist.
The driver who struck the victim remained at the scene and is cooperating with local investigators. He told the police that he got blinded by the sun which caused him to struck the victim. It was not confirmed if he was taken into custody.
No charges have been made as the investigation is still in progress.
