Beeville – Truck Collision on US 181

A fatal semi-truck crash on US Highway 181 caused the death of two people, Wednesday morning.

Just before 10:00 a.m., a Peterbilt semi-truck was traveling in the wrong side of US Highway 181 when it crashed into a passing 2009 Dodge Ram pickup truck that was towing a utility trailer. The impact of the collision killed both the driver and passenger of the pickup truck. Meanwhile, the driver of the semi-truck was left with non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the nearest hospital where he received further medical attention.

No identification was released pending notification of the victims’ next of kin.

Beeville local investigators are still determining the reason why the driver of the semi-truck was in the opposite way.

The crash remains under investigation.
