Beeville – Men Killed in US 181 Collision Named

The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the victims who died in a fatal vehicular accident on US Highway 181 near Beeville.

They were identified as Mark Wesley Swisher, 61, of Fort Worth, and William Charles Mego, 74, of Arlington.

Based on the initial investigation, a 2017 Peterbilt was traveling along the southbound lane of the highway when it crashed into a 2009 Dodge Ram pickup truck that was heading north. Police said the truck tractor reportedly drifted into the path of the Dodge for yet unknown reasons. Two occupants of the Dodge, William Charles Mego and Mark Wesley Swisher, died as a result of the crash. Meanwhile, the driver of the Peterbilt was transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been made as the investigation is still in progress.
