Beaumont – Bicyclist Killed in College St Identified

The Beaumont Police Department has named the victim who died in a recent auto crash on College Street near Avenue G, according to initial reports.
The fatality was identified as Jerry Lynn Brachett. He is a resident of Beaumont.
Police said the incident happened at the 2500 block of College Street near a store. Jerry Lynn Brachett was riding a bicycle along the eastbound lane of the street when a silver Hyundai Accent, also traveling in the same direction, struck Brachett’s bicycle. The impact seriously injured Brachett in the process. He was pronounced deceased despite life-saving efforts by emergency crews who responded to the scene.
Whether or not the driver of Hyundai stayed at the scene remains unclear at this time.
The crash remains under investigation.
