Bastrop — Justin York Struck and Killed on Texas 71

A 41-year-old pedestrian who died in a car accident on Texas 71 has been identified by local authorities, according to a local news source.
The fatality was named 41-year-old Justin York.
According to police reports, the crash took place at around 9 p.m. at the 500 block of Texas 71, near the highway’s intersection with Schaefer Boulevard. Justin York was trying to cross the eastbound lanes of the highway when he was struck by a passing vehicle. When police arrived at the scene, the pedestrian was lying on the ground, unconscious. He was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle, whose identification has not yet been released, was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center for further care. Authorities said that his injuries are not life-threatening and that he is expected to recover.
The eastbound lanes of the highway have been shut down for a few hours for clearing. An investigation is ongoing.
