Axtell – Victims Killed in SH 31 Collision ID’d

Axtell law enforcement officials have identified the victims who died in a fatal car accident on State Highway 31, April 29, according to a local news source.
The fatalities were identified as 58-year-old Richard Raines and 76-year-old Carol Cornelius.
Police said that Raines was driving a Nissan pickup truck along the southbound lanes of SH 31 when he failed to stop at a red light at the intersection near Farm to Market 2311 Road. He then collided with a Ford pickup truck driven by Cornelius. The impact of the collision seriously injured both drivers. They were rushed to a local hospital where they were listed in critical condition. Unfortunately, they succumbed to their injuries at a later time.
