Austin – Wheelchair Struck by Car on Ben White Boulevard

A fatal pedestrian collision on East Ben White Boulevard in South Austin leaves one person dead, Friday night, a local news source reported.

Just after 7:00 p.m., a crash involving a wheelchair and a vehicle was reported at the 200 block of East Ben White Boulevard near South Congress Avenue. Initial investigation shows that a man in a wheelchair was trying to get to the other side of the road when a passing vehicle that was travelling along the middle lane struck him. The pedestrian who was only identified as a man suffered from significant injuries and died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene until local authorities arrived. It was not clear if he will be facing any charges.

Based on the preliminary reports, the portion of the highway where the incident took place is not well lit at night.
