Austin – Reckless Driving Led to Traffic Collision on Dessau Lane

The Austin Police Department is investigating a vehicle accident on Dessau Lane which killed one person and injured two more.
At around 11:30 a.m., local officers received an alert reporting a crash involving a Chevrolet Avalance. According to the report, the Avalanche was being pulled over by an officer but instead of slowing down, it accelerated, prompting a pursuit. The driver continued on the eastbound lane of Parmer Lane and onto Dessau Lane where it ran a red light. It then crashed into a white Hyundai Elantra that was making a turn at the intersection.
The driver of the Chevrolet Avalanche died from the impact of the collision. Meanwhile, two occupants in the Hyundai sustained non-life threatening injuries. They were transported to a nearby hospital with an unknown condition.
No charges have been made as the investigation is still in progress.
