Austin – Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Car on Interstate 35

A pedestrian was pronounced deceased after getting hit by a vehicle on Interstate 35 in North Austin, Saturday morning.
Just after 2:00 a.m., local troopers responded to the southbound lanes of I-35, just north of Highway 290 intersection, after receiving a notification about an auto-pedestrian accident. Police said that a man was attempting to cross the highway when a passing 2011 Ford Focus that was traveling in the inside lane hit him.
The male pedestrian, identified only as a 52-year-old man, died from the injuries he sustained from the crash. Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford remained at the scene until authorities arrived. He was not injured.
The Austin Police Department arrived at the scene to gather information about the accident. No charges have been filed as the investigation is still in progress.
