Austin – Pedestrian Dies Following a Fatal Crash on South Congress Avenue

The Austin Police Department has identified the man who passed away after getting hit by a vehicle on South Congress Avenue, Friday night.
The deceased victim was named as Carlos Cardenas Jr., 45.
According to initial reports, the fatal accident took place at the 7300 block of South Congress Avenue. A 45-year-old man was crossing the street with another pedestrian when a passing 2001 white Chrysler Sebring struck him. ATCEMS and the Austin Fire Department who responded to the crash perform CPR on the victim, but to no avail. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities did not release information about the driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian.
