Austin – Pedestrian Crossing I-35 Struck and Killed by a Vehicle

A fatal pedestrian accident caused the death of one person on Interstate Highway 35 in South Austin, early Monday morning.
At around 6:00 a.m., Austin local authorities responded to an auto versus pedestrian collision which took place on the 12000 block of southbound Interstate Highway 35. Details surrounding the incident are very limited at this time but, as per Austin-Travis County EMS, one person died as a result of the collision. His identification has not been released pending notification of his next of kin.
The southbound lanes of the highway were closed between Slaughter Creek and Onion Creek and traffic was being diverted to the FM 1626 exit, Texas Department of Transportation officials said.
