Austin— Pedestrian Accident on South First Street

A fatal pedestrian collision involving a Capital Metro passenger bus on South First Street sent one person to a hospital last February 11.
Just before 7:00 p.m., local emergency crews responded to a major accident on South First Street near Barton Springs Road. According to authorities, a man was crossing West Riverside Drive on a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a bus that was heading south.
The impact of the collision injured the pedestrian. He was rushed to Dell Seton Medical Center for treatment of his injuries that were considered non-life-threatening. His identification was not immediately released by police officials.
The CapMetro driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Investigation continues.
