Austin – Leon Rogelio Andres Salmeron Dies in Hit-and-run Collision on US 183

The 23-year-old man who died following a car accident on US 183 near Research Boulevard has been identified by Austin law enforcement officials, according to a local news source.
The victim was identified as Leon Rogelio Andres Salmeron, 23. Police said that Salmeron was heading south on Research Boulevard when it collided with a gray 2005 Honda Accord that was leaving the Park at Crestview Apartments. The force of the impact sent Salmeron’s vehicle to a concrete support column, wounding him in the process. He was pronouced dead by local paramedics.
Meanwhile, the unidentified driver of the Honda took off even before police arrived at the scene. He will be cited for failing to stop and render aid to the victim.
