At least four people sustained various injuries after getting involved in an auto collision on Interstate Highway 35, Sunday morning.

According to initial reports, the incident happened just after 12:00 a.m. on East Ben White Boulevard near I-35. Details surrounding the collision remain unclear at this time but it was confirmed that one person was pinned in the wreckage.

Two occupants, a woman and a man, were rushed to South Austin Medical Center with serious injuries while two other women suffered from non-life-threatening injuries. The identity of the victims and their current condition have not been released pending notification of their immediate family.

The Austin Police Department arrived at the scene to determine the circumstances leading up to the accident. No further information is available.

Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the injured victims. We pray for their speedy recovery.

In Texas, car collisions happen on a regular basis. Most of the time, these events result in injuries and fatalities. Victims involved in crashes are left to deal with life-threatening injuries, damages to property, and worse—emotional trauma. While accidents are fortuitous events that cannot be foreseen, they can be prevented if only drivers had simply put their complete attention on the road and taken their responsibility as drivers more seriously. This is why, despite conscious efforts by government to combat the increasing number of fatalities and injuries every year, crashes due to negligence is still on the rise.
