Austin—Fatal Crash on Springdale Road near 7th Street

The Austin Police Department has identified the victim who died in a car accident on Springdale Road, last Wednesday evening.
At around 11:00 p.m., local officers responded to a fatal crash at the intersection of Springdale Road and East 7th Street. According to initial reports, a Lexus was seen speeding along the eastbound lanes of 7th St before it crashed into a northbound Volkswagen. A witness told the police that Lexus also ran a red light which may have contributed to the collision.
The force of the impact killed one person who was identified as Javier Emanuel Nino-Esparza. It was not confirmed if he was a passerby or one of the occupants in the vehicles involved.
As of this writing, at least three people sustained injuries from the collision. None of the people injured was identified and their condition was not disclosed by authorities.
Lexus driver Duane Deshae Harris has been charged with intoxication manslaughter, a second-degree felony.
