Austin – Carlos Cardenas Jr Died in Deadly Pedestrian Accident on South Congress Ave

Austin law enforcement officials have identified the victim who died in a fatal car accident on South Congress Avenue last Friday evening.
The fatality was identified 45-year-old Carlos Cardenas Jr.
At around 8:00 p.m., Cardenas was crossing the street at the 300 block of South Congress Avenue when he was hit by a 2001 white Chrysler Sebring that was traveling along the northbound lane. The impact of the collision killed Cardenas instantly.
The driver of the Chrysler remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigators.
Based on a preliminary investigation, the victim was crossing in an poorly lit part of the road with another person when the accident happened. It was not confirmed whether the other person was hurt.
No charges have been filed against the driver as the investigation is still in progress.
