Austin – Anthony Wayne Washington Died after Getting Hit by a Car on Interstate 35

Austin law enforcement officials have identified the bicyclist who died after getting into a crash with a vehicle on South Interstate 35 last Thursday.
The fatality was named as Anthony Wayne Washington. He was 36 years old.
According to initial reports, a bicycle was heading east on Ben White Boulevard when, for reasons that had not been determined, it entered the intersection on a red signal and crossed over into the southbound lanes of I-35. The driver of a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze attempted to avoid the bicycle, but to no avail. She struck the bicyclist, leaving him heavily injured.
The bicyclist, identified as The bicyclist, identified as Anthony Washington, was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center for treatment. Unfortunately, Washington succumbed to his injuries a few moments later.
Authorities said there will be no charges expected to be filed against the driver of the Chevrolet who remained at the scene.
