Austin—64-year-old Man Struck and Killed by Car on Riverside Drive

The Austin Police Department has released the name of the elderly man who died in a pedestrian crash on Riverside Drive, Tuesday.
The fatality was identified as 64-year-old Rosbel Tamez.
As per a local news source, the incident took place last Thursday, February 21, just before midnight. A silver 2017 Jeep Patriot was seen heading east at the 7300 block of East Riverside Drive when it struck a pedestrian that crossing the roadway near Uphill Street.
Police said that the impact of the collision left Tamez with serious injuries. He was then rushed to St. David’s South Austin Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
Whether the driver stayed or escaped the scene was not confirmed by local authorities.
Investigators arrived at the scene to determine liability.
