The Austin Police Department is investigating a car accident that injured at least two people on South Highway 45, Saturday afternoon, last April 6.
At around 3:30 p.m., local officers responded to SH 45 near Parmer Lane after receiving a call reporting a vehicle collision. According to initial reports, a vehicle was traveling along the highway when, for yet unknown reasons, it rear-ended a fire truck. The impact of the collision left a man and a woman with serious injuries.
The first injured victim was identified only as a man in his 60s while the other victim was identified as a woman in her 60s. They were rushed to a local hospital with one of them listed in critical condition.
Investigators are requested at the scene to determine the cause of the accident.
Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the injured victims. We pray for their speedy recovery.
In Texas, car collisions happen on a regular basis. Most of the time, these events result in injuries and fatalities. Victims involved in crashes are left to deal with life-threatening injuries, damages to property, and worse—emotional trauma. While accidents are fortuitous events that cannot be foreseen, they can be prevented if only drivers had simply put their complete attention on the road and taken their responsibility as drivers more seriously. This is why, despite conscious efforts by government to combat the increasing number of fatalities and injuries every year, crashes due to negligence is still on the rise.
