Amarillo – Two Killed after Head-on Crash on 45th Ave

The Amarillo Police Department is investigating a fatal collision on 45th Avenue, Sunday afternoon.
At around 1:40 p.m., police officers received a report about a two-vehicle crash that took place at the 7900 block of West 45th Avenue. According to initial reports, a vehicle was traveling along the eastbound lane when, for reasons that had not been determined, the driver lost control of the car, drifted onto the opposing lanes and collided with another vehicle.
The impact of the collision killed the drivers of both vehicles. They were only identified as a 65-year-old and a 24-year-old driver.
Local investigators arrived at the scene to determine the cause of the incident. Police said that speed may have played a role in this case.
The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
