Amarillo – Man Died Following a Vehicle Accident on US 287

The Amarillo Police Department is conducting an investigation about a vehicle accident on Highway 287, November 26th, Tuesday.

Police said a car collision was reported on US Highway 287 which involved a sport utility vehicle and a truck. According to the initial reports, a SUV had been traveling along the highway when it crashed into a 1984 Peterbilt Truck that had been heading east. The driver of the vehicle sustained fatal injuries and was rushed to Quanah Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after. Meanwhile, his passenger also suffered from serious injuries and was hospitalized.

No identification has been released pending notification of the victims’ next of kin.

Police are still determining the factors that contributed to the collision. An investigation is underway.
