Amarillo – Courtney Pompey Struck by Car while Crossing Interstate 40

A Florida man was killed after getting hit by a vehicle on Interstate 40, Monday morning.
The fatality was identified as 28-year-old Courtney Jesse Pompey of Ocala Florida.
According to initial reports, a pedestrian collision was reported at the 8000 block of West Interstate 40 just after 9:00 a.m. Police said a 2019 Kenworth towing a loaded flatbed trailer was attempting to switch from right lane to center lane when it struck a pedestrian who was walking across the highway. The impact of the collision seriously injured the pedestrian. He was immediately transported to a hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the vehicle, whose identity remains unknown, was not injured. It was not determined if he will be facing any charges.
The Amarillo Police Department was requested at the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
