A multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 40 resulted in the deaths of two people, Saturday morning.
The fatalities were identified as 53-year-old Brian King and 75-year-old passenger Judith King.
Initial reports show that a U-haul truck towing a car was traveling along the westbound lane when, for reasons that had not yet been determined, it drifted into the opposing lanes and collided head-on with a semi-truck. The impact caused the semi to catch fire. A passing semi-truck was not able to avoid the first semi and struck its rear, killing both Brian and Judith. They were pronounced deceased by emergency crews who responded to the scene.
Both drivers of the semi-trucks sustained various injuries and were transported to hospitals for proper medical treatment. Meanwhile, another passenger was also rushed to UMC hospital in Lubbock where he was listed in serious condition.
