Amarillo – 1 Killed 2 Injured on 24th Avenue

Amarillo police officials are conducting an investigation about a vehicle accident on Northwest 24th Avenue near North Jefferson Street, Wednesday evening.

Just before 10:00 p.m., police responded to the said cross street in Amarillo following reports of a crash between two vehicles. According to the initial investigation, a 2005 Nissan Altima was seen heading east on NW 24th Ave when it collided with a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer that was traveling along the westbound lane. As a result, three occupants in the Nissan Altima was sent to the hospital for major injuries. Unfortunately, the driver of the Altima was pronounced deceased a few moments after. His two passengers were listed in serious condition.

The driver of the Mountaineer was not injured. He was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. It was not clear if he was the only occupant in the car.
