Amarillo – 1 Killed, 1 Injured in Solo-Vehicle Accident on I-40

A vehicle crash on Interstate 40 in Amarillo resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to another person, Tuesday evening.
Just after 8:00 p.m., police were called onto I-40 near South Lakeside Drive in response to a call reporting a vehicle accident. According to the initial report, a vehicle, driven by a 38-year-old man, suddenly drifted off the roadway. When its driver attempted to overcorrect the vehicle but it ended up rolling over. The driver sustained significant injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. After getting released, he was taken into custody. His passenger was declared deceased by emergency crews who responded to the scene.
No identification has been released at this time.
Amarillo law enforcement officials said alcohol may have played a factor in the accident. The crash remains under investigation.
