Amarillo – 1 Critically Injured after Motorcycle vs Semi Crash on I-40

An Amarillo man was sent to a hospital after colliding with a semi-tractor on Interstate Highway 40 last Saturday, June 22.
Just after 3:00 p.m., Amarillo Police Department officials responded to a collision which took place at the 400 block of west I-40 near Interstate 27. According to initial reports, a 2007 Suzuki 1300 was heading north on I-27 when, for yet unknown reasons, it went out of control, drifted onto the next lane and rear-ended a large box trailer hauled by a semi-tractor. The rider of the motorcycle, identified only as a 34-year-old Amarillo resident, was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. His condition was not immediately disclosed.
The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department. They believed that speed may have played a role in the collision.
An investigation is underway.
