Just after 11:00 p.m. last Thursday, a sheriff’s transport van was traveling along the southbound lanes of Highway 281 just north of Alice in Jim Wells County when it struck a woman was attempting to cross the highway. The impact of the collision left the victim in a life-threatening condition. She was rushed to Christus Spohn Hospital Alice where she succumbed to her injuries.

Texas is among the states in the US that have the most car accidents which involved injuries and fatalities every year. Some of the common factors contributing to the rising cases of collisions in the area include the worsening traffic situation, weather conditions, and poor driving habits.

Bad driving habits are the greatest cause of a fatal crash. It can be lethal to the person behind the wheel, as well as the drivers on the road. Drivers who do not use their signal to change lanes or those who do not secure their blind spots before shifting direction are more likely to be involved in an accident. Some of the most dangerous driving habits include speeding, unsafe lane change, tailgating, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If you or someone you love has been a victim of a car accident with a negligent driver, you have a right to fair compensation for the trauma you experienced and the injuries you have suffered.
