Two firefighters injured in SW Houston warehouse fire

HOUSTON, TX – Two firefighters were sent to the hospital on Friday for heat-related injuries after fighting a three-alarm fire in southwest Houston.
According to ABC13, the fire broke out around 10:30 a.m. in a warehouse in the 7800 block of Westpark Drive.
The blaze caused multiple explosions and for authorities to issue a Shelter-in-Place order due to the thick smoke billowing from the structure.
Two firefighters were sent to the hospital for heat exhaustion, and after receiving treatment and fluids, they were released.
According to the report, sodium hydroxide, a chemical used in manufacturing that is capable of causing severe chemical burns, was found inside the structure.
Arson and hazardous materials teams are investigating the blaze.
The building, a 35,000-square-foot spa wholesale business, was completely destroyed in the fire.
