One dead in late-night Texas City apartment fire

TEXAS CITY, TX – One person died in an apartment fire in Texas City last night that sent multiple crews to fight the flames, according to KPRC2.
Authorities responded to the fire in the 400 block of 3rd Avenue North at about 11:30 p.m. last night. A resident was reportedly trapped within the blazing apartment building when firefighters arrived at the smoky scene.
While fire officials attempted to rescue the victim, the size of the blaze forced them to retreat.
Multiple crews responded to the large blaze, the cause of which has yet to be determined.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
The fire remains under investigation at this time.
