Two workers hurt in oil tank explosion near TAMU Galveston

GALVESTON, TX – An oil storage tank explosion near the campus of Texas A&M University Galveston hospitalized two workers Tuesday afternoon, according to a report by the Beaumont Enterprise.
The accident occurred around 3:20 p.m. on Pelican Island, at the 3800 block of GTI Boulevard.
The victims were working near the tank when it exploded. Their injuries were said not to be life-threatening, according to the report.
TAMU Galveston issued a shelter-in-place order for those on campus as emergency responders fought the blaze.
The cause of the explosion and fire is still under investigation at this time.
