Galveston — 1 Dead After Fatal Crash on Highway 87

On Monday afternoon, January 21, 2019, one person died after a fatal crash that occurred in Galveston County on Highway 87, near Bolivar Peninsula and Highway 124.
According to officials, the driver was traveling westbound on Highway 87 when he suddenly hit a construction vehicle. Unfortunately, the driver was pronounced dead subsequently after the crash.
As a result to this terrible accident, Highway 87 was closed for a few hours, and it was only opened around 9:30 in the evening.
It is unfortunate to hear of the passing of the unnamed driver. Sadly, he is not the first victim whose life is taken away by a car accident. In addition to this, the NHTSA also reports that 15% of fatal car accidents occur near intersections, while the whopping 85% happen on the open road. This seemed to be the case for this particular vehicular accident.
