One died while several were injured in a crash involving two vehicles on Farm to Market Road 121, last Sunday afternoon.
At around 2:00 p.m., the Texas Highway Patrol responded to a major two-car collision on FM 121 east of Van Alstyne. A Cadillac SUV was heading west on the two-lane highway when, for yet unknown reasons, it went out of control and collided with a Chevrolet pickup truck that was heading east near Edwards Road. Police said that the driver tried to overcorrect his vehicle to the left but was not successful.
The driver of the Cadillac SUV, identified 24-year-old Karla Franco-Rico, including his two children passengers, sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, one of the children was pronounced dead on arrival at the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.
All occupants in the pickup truck were hurt. Their condition and identification have not been disclosed.
What led the crash is yet to be determined as the investigation continues.
Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the injured victims. We pray for their speedy recovery.
Sometimes, a car accident can cause serious injuries to multiple parties and that filing an insurance claim for injury compensation after an accident can be overwhelming. To ensure that you are properly compensated, you might want to file a claim with either your insurance provider or the insurer of the responsible party as soon as possible. You would also need to gather enough evidence and documents that will support your claim. In times like this, assistance from a professional who can provide you with all the support you need can go a long way.
