Last Tuesday, just before 6:00 p.m., local troopers responded to 25th St following reports of a car accident.
Initial investigation shows that a white 2017 Nissan Versa was traveling along the roadway when it drifted off the roadway and crashed into a utility pole. When emergency crews arrived, they found the driver of the car still conscious and alert. He was taken to the University of Texas Medical Branch for treatment. He was only identified as a 20-year-old male driver.
No one else was injured.
Police are still investigating the factors that caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. However, some witnesses told investigators that the driver may have been driving at an unsafe speed prior to the crash.
This is a developing story.
