On Monday, January 21, 2019, one man was critically injured after an accident that occurred on State Highway 30.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) says that just before 11:30 in the morning, the unidentified driver of a 1999 Dodge truck tried to cross the highway after exiting FM 244. It is at that moment when he crashed into a westbound dump truck.
The driver of the Dodge truck was ejected from the car. He was flown to CHI St. Joseph Health in Bryan with critical injuries.
A passenger from the Dodge truck and the driver of the dump truck were not critically injured.
Car accidents like this are fairly common nowadays. In a statistics done by the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA), car accidents occur almost every minute of every day, and there is always a car accident that results in death every 16 minutes. This can be translated to roughly about 6 million car accidents every year and about 90 people dying in car accidents every day just in the U.S. alone.
Head-on collision, a particular kind of car accident, is often said to be the most dangerous kind of car accident there is, due to the increased force sustained by both drivers upon collision. Reports have shown that though head-on collisions only comprise 2% of reported crashes, they do comprise over 10% of the driving fatalities. Some of the common casualties of head-on collisions are spinal injuries, brain injuries, broken bones, paralysis, and of course death.
It is unfortunate to hear of what happened to the driver of the Dodge truck. That said, if you are a victim of a car accident, or you know someone who is, then don’t lose hope. The police will always be there for you, but more than that, car accident lawyers/personal injury lawyers are also willing to help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.
