Borger – Kirk Coker Killed in Solo-Car Crash on TX 136

The Hutchinson County Sheriff officer who died in a fatal solo-vehicle collision on Texas Highway 136, Sunday evening.
He was identified as Kirk Coker, 57, of Borger.
Just before 12:00 midnight, police responded to the east of Fritch along Texas 136. A 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Kirk Coker, was heading east on the highway when it suddenly went out of control and left the roadway. The car traveled through a fence and into a field before striking a tree. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the Coker unconscious inside the car. He was confirmed deceased by a Hutchinson County judge and a county commissioner.
Based on the initial investigation, a medical episode is suspected as being the cause of the crash.
