Houston—Child Hospitalized in DUI Crash on 75th Street

According to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, a car accident that sent a child to a hospital took place on Harrisburg Boulevard near 75th Street.
Initial reports say that the accident happened at around 1:15 a.m. A pickup truck was traveling along the westbound lanes of Harrisburg Boulevard when it ran through a stop sign and struck a Cadillac. The impact of the collision injured one of the four occupants in the Cadillac. She was rushed to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition. Authorities only identified her as a 5-year-old girl.
No other injuries reported.
Based on the preliminary investigation, the driver of the pickup driver, who was identified as Isreal Suarez Lugo, 35, had been drinking prior to the crash. He was charged with intoxication assault.
The investigation continues.
