Van Zandt County – Driver Killed in Solo Car Crash on State Highway 198

Last Saturday morning, a single-vehicle accident on State Highway 198 in Canton resulted in the death of one person, a local news source reported.

Just after 6:00 a.m., DPS troopers responded to a fatal crash on SH 194 in Van Zandt County.

A 2006 Hyundai Sonata was seen heading northeast on the highway when it went out of control after approaching a curve. The Hyundai then left the roadway, traveled along the ditch, and struck a driveway. Before coming to rest, the vehicle crashed into a post and a tree. Its driver was fatally injured and was pronounced deceased by emergency crews. He was transported to Eubanks Funeral Home in Canton.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
