Jacinto City-Man Struck and Killed on East Freeway Service Road

Police have yet to release the identification of a pedestrian who died in a crash on East Freeway Service Road, January 17.
Just before 8:00 a.m., local emergency crews responded to the scene for a major accident on East Freeway Road near Mercury Drive. According to initial reports, a man was walking north on Mercury toward the underpass. As he attempted to cross the service road, a Waste Connections truck struck him.
The force of the impact left the man with life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identification was not released pending notification of the next of kin.
The driver of the garbage truck was not injured. It is not confirmed if he stayed at the scene.
The investigation is still in progress.
