Wharton — Driver Dead After Crash on U.S. 59

A 2-vehicle crash near Exit 961 of U.S. 59 near Wharton left a man dead on Wednesday noon, January 16, 2019.
According to David Freeman, a detective with the Wharton Police Department, a small 4-door Kia sedan was heading southbound, and when he suddenly entered the northbound lanes for unknown reasons, he collided with a northbound 18-wheeler truck.
The 27-year-old driver of the sedan immediately died at the scene while the driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to OakBend Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
It is quite unfortunate to hear of the passing of the unidentified driver. Alas, car accidents happen quite often in this day and age.
