Two vehicles collided into one another just south of Navasota on the northbound lanes of State Highway 6 and FM 2988.
According to Trooper Russell Gallo of the Texas Department of Public Safety, initial reports show that a vehicle didn’t have the right of way while turning onto FM 2988 from State Highway 6, and as a result, it was hit by a car traveling northbound on the highway. One of the vehicles then rolled over and landed on its side in the grass, according to Navasota Fire Chief Jason Katkoski.
One victim was trapped in the rollover but was able to be safely removed from the wreck. The victim was then transported to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The names of the individuals involved in the crash have not been released.
Car accidents are a serious problem in this day and age, and yet they still happen quite often. According to the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA), car accidents happen almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, a car accident occurs that results in death. So that is roughly about 6 million car accidents every year and 90 people dying in car accidents every day in the U.S. alone.
The three common causes of car accidents are DUI (driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs), speeding, and driving while distracted.
If anyone finds themselves in a car accident, or if anyone has a loved one who is involved in an accident, never lose hope because help will always be available for them.
