Jefferson – Child Died Highway 49 Crash

Jefferson law enforcement officials are looking into details of a collision on Highway 49 in Marion County, Thursday morning.

At around 7:00 a.m., a 1994 Ford Taurus was traveling along Hwy 49 when it slowed down while approaching a scene of a crash. While doing so, a 1999 Cadillac DeVille behind it struck its rear side which resulted in injuries of three occupants. Emergency crews transported one driver and another passenger to a local hospital where they received medical treatment. Meanwhile, the other injured party was rushed to LSU Health where he succumbed to his injuries.

Responding authorities withheld the victims’ identities while waiting for their immediate family relatives to be notified.

An investigation is underway.
